News About the Audi
Q5
thanks to audiforum.ca
The Audi Q5
is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV to be released by German
automaker Audi for the 2009 or 2010 model
year.
It will be built using the new Audi MLP platform (Modular
Longitudinal Platform) debuting in the 2008 Audi A5 luxury
coupe. As a mid-sizer, the Q5 will be the second Audi model
in the "Q" range, after the full-size Q7, and will
compete with the Acura MDX, Lexus RX, Lincoln MKX, Mercedes-Benz
M-Class and Volvo XC90.
The Q5 will slot between the Q3 and Q7.
The new vehicle will be built in Audi's
home town of Ingolstadt. It will need an investment of about
$400 million in production tooling and expansion.
Power is expected to come in both diesel
and gas-powered flavors, possibly including the 4.2-liter
FSI V8. Strap a few turbos onto that mill and we may even
get a RSQ5. We doubt it, if for no other reason than that
badge may be a bit awkward on the boot.
